Birthday Designs!

Hi everyone!

I’ve just finished my second year exams – hooray! Last night we celebrated by going out for one of my best friends 21st birthdays – I decided to make him a birthday card 🙂

I’ve seen some lovely geometric patterns on Pinterest so decided to have a go at recreating some with a few little touches – I liked the idea of having the colour randomly spread around the circle and I’ve always liked strong geometric patterns combined with dainty ‘feminine’ type.

I was quite pleased with how it turned out! Thinking of playing around with the design a bit more to maybe get some more ideas going 🙂

happy birthday

That’s it for now folks – this summer I’m working but thinking of starting some more plasticine animation and starting up a Vimeo account and doing a few short animations – will keep you all updated!

Enjoy the lovely weather and I’ll chat to you all soon 🙂

First Ever Video… Finished!

Hi everyone,

My latest commission was a video for a society at my university who are called Cardiff Racing. They are comprised of engineering students and build cars every year from scratch to race and compete against teams from other universities. They wanted a short promo video to send to potential sponsors and to give a quick introduction to who they were.

This was a first venture into video and video editing which was challenging but fun. I enjoyed working on the project and learning a LOT about Premiere Pro.

Obviously there are some issues which I am aware of, but overall I am pleased with how it came out and hope that the team are able to use it to get some new sponsors and raise awareness of what they do!

Valentines

Hi everyone!

I found some time from goodness knows where to share my little valentines project for Ben with you guys. You might remember my WIP post from November – well I finally got around to finishing it!

Us

Us.

I finished it off (at last!), printed it and put it in a little frame with a message on the back. I wil freely admit it’s not the most inspiring thing I have ever made but I quite liked that it was a bit rough around the edges.

I find valentine’s fairly tiring sometimes – seeing countless people posting their teddy bears holding hearts and huge bright pink cards makes me feel a bit sad. I like the sentiment of the day but it does feel like a lot of people trying to buy each other out. On that note I always try to make something by hand, still in keeping with remembering the people we love but without buying any of the commercially made stuff.

Sorry for the absence again lately – life always gets in the way, doesn’t it? I received a couple of commissions in the last month which have taken over my life. Hopefully I’ll be able to share them soon when they are released!

February to June 2013

This was a time crazy with revision and work so not a lot happened, here are a few sketches that did find their way out though.

Texture Experiment

This was an experiment into creating images by cutting out pages, and using cut outs to create further images.

Personal Bookwork

This was a quick sketch interpretation of a piece of writing I have done. It is Part One of a three part series which I would like to upload in full once it is completed.

In The Sky

This was another experiment, to see how cross hatching worked as the night sky. It is a lot less troublesome than ‘colouring’ the whole sky in a pen drawing but it gives the impression of darkness still.

I was a little sad about the amount of work I got done in this period but I enjoyed what I did do, and they have provided some inspiration for future work.

The Girl and The Stars.

This is what I have to show for this evening, I’m sorry I haven’t posted in such a long time. I suppose I’ve been having a bit of an artistic block…

Girl&Stars

Hopefully I’ll get through that soon and have some beautiful new things to show you but my illustration has definitely got more fun – I think I’m starting to finally develop a style. It’s something that I have always known I’d have to experiment with and wait for but now that I have finally found a mixture of media that I enjoy I am so excited.

Back soon!
